Sanctus, composition by Josquin Desprez, edited by Jacques Barbier for mixed-voice choir:
First part of the Sanctus of the Missa L'ami Baudichon, this excerpt for 4 mixed voices has the merit of requiring little from the two male voices.
The tenor's voice declaims the cantus firmus of the secular melody used in this mass on three notes from bar 17 onwards, while the bass part enriches the counterpoint of the two upper voices until the end of the piece.
A fine and delicate writing highlighting syncopations and vocalizations like a lace of sound.
For 4-part mixed choir (SATB) a cappella.
